Rural ID Project
The Escalon Fire District has implemented a new rural idenfication project in an effort to provide an addtional measure of security for district residents outside the City of Escalon.

The project involves providing rural residents reflective signs with their street  address numbers to help the fire department to locate them in an emergency,  especially at night and in foggy conditions.  In addition to benefiting the fire department, the signs will assist the other emergency services including the Sheriff and ambulance services.

The  6 x 18 inch  metal signs are covered with a blue reflective material with 3 inch white reflective numbers. Residents have the choice of vertical or horizontal placement of the numbers.

The signs are provided at cost ($15.00 each) and the department will put your address numbers  on each sign.   The signs can be picked up at the fire department office on Coley Ave. or can be delivered and installed for those who need assistance.

Assistant Chief Terry Pinheiro said fire officials are hoping the sign program is well received, since it would complement the existing address program.  "We started the address project several years ago when we went out and drove every street in the district and mapped each house.   This project will help direct us in to the exact address  in an emergency. "

Incidently,  if you happen to live outside of our district, you can still purchase a sign with your street number on it.  You would have to pick it up yourself.

To order your sign call the office at 209-838-7500. Our station is located at 1749 Coley Ave. in downtown Escalon.
